Corporate Social Responsibility

Managing the stadium is a complex process, taking into account building relations with the environment.

Managing the stadium is a complex process, involving, apart from the efficient infrastructure management required for the organisation of sport and entertainment events as well as preparation of business meetings, also a responsibility for the environment.

We are aware of the fact that the Stadion Energa Gdańsk is not only one of the most beautiful sport facilities in the world, but it also has high potential for supporting social development. It is very important for us and we endeavour to make Stadion Energa Gdańsk a catalyst and promoter of:

ico contactactive spare time, a healthy lifestyle and sport in general

From the moment of creating the stadium, the access to the facility for persons with disabilities was a priority for us. Therefore, 66 seats on the stands of the Stadion Energa Gdańsk have been designated for people in wheelchairs and their carers, and all toilets, entrances and passages have been adjusted to their needs.

In 2013, we introduced the possibility to participate fully in the events organised in the Stadion Energa Gdańsk by blind or visually impaired persons, by adding a general audiodescription to the permanent offer, namely a special live sport commentary. The blind and visually impaired people can also "see with their hands" the beauty of the stadium, thanks to a special mock-up placed in front of the main entrance to the facility.

Caring about the comfort of people with disabilities in everyday functioning of the facility, we have started cooperation, among others, with the Dawid Zapisek Disabled Football Fans Association, Football Club of Disabled Football Fans of Lechia Gdańsk and the CAFE organisation – Centre For Access To Football in Europe. It should help better understand the needs of people with disabilities and enable for them greater participation in the events organised by Stadion Energa Gdańsk.

The effects of this cooperation are events organised cyclically, for children with disabilities, and exhibitions promoting access of these persons to sport.

In our activities, we encourage persons to lead an active lifestyle. We strive to ensure that events organised in the Stadion Energa Gdańsk should include generally accessible sportive and recreational attractions. On the other hand, in the everyday functioning of the facility, for the needs of the inhabitants, a part of the infrastructure is made available for them.

For the enthusiasts of both in-line and traditional roller skates, a professional track around the stadium, 1000 meters long, has been made available (with a possibility to set a track of 1700 m) and rental service, for passive chips to measure the time of a ride, has been launched. With regards to the popularisation of this form of activities, 50 of the abovementioned chips have been given to the roller-skaters within the competition.

There is also a bicycle route set in the area of the facility, connected with the municipal bicycle network. 366 special parking spaces have been created for the cyclists.

For those who want to spend their time actively, we organise tournaments, sportive and recreational competitions. Most often these are events for soccer, roller-skaters, karting, streetball, floorball, triathlon and zumba aficionados.

Each Saturday, on the lawns at the Stadion Energa Gdańsk, an open exercise group is conducted. Every week, more than 20 persons take part in collective running exercises and circuit training, while having fun. The classes are conducted within the national campaign "I run because I like to ".

We also support campaigns promoting healthy lifestyles, in particular, among children and teenagers. They include "Cycling May" and "Fruits at School".

We strive to promote a healthy lifestyle by supporting activities related to less popular sport disciplines such as ultimate Frisbee, lacrosse or floorball.

The stadium in Gdańsk, as the first one in the country, was admitted to the "European Healthy Stadiums" network. The Stadion Energa Gdańsk has been regarded, by European experts, as a place that promotes healthy physical activities, has healthy dishes in its offering for the stadium guests and fans, and is engaged in pro-health campaigns. The cooperation with experts of the Healthy Stadia will certainly result in further development of activities investing in the health of the inhabitants of the Tricity area and its tourists.

ico contactinitiatives for the development of local communities and cooperation

We strive to ensure that the responsible Stadion Energa Gdańsk is a result of operation of all entities that function in it and use it every day. Therefore, we organise most of our activities together with Arena Gdańsk Operator, BIEG 2012, Lechia Gdańsk, Sports Hospitality, Security Agency Taurus, PitStop.

We also cooperate with social partners such as: CAFE, the Dawid Zapisek the Disabled Football Fans Association, the Disabled Fan Club of Lechia Gdańsk -Lions of the North, Regional Voluntary Service in Gdańsk, University School of Physical Education and Sport in Gdańsk, Association of Maritime Cities and Gminas, the Polish Active Mobility Union, Gdańsk Foundation, RC Foundation, Historical Museum of the Gdansk City, Pomorskie Hospice for Children Foundation, The Running Foundation.

Building good relations with the environment also consists in the cooperation with fan's environment, namely the Association of Fans of Lechia Gdańsk - Lions of the North.  It concerns the issues of safety during matches of Lechia Gdańsk, and Polish football representation, as well as organisation of joint events such as thematic conferences and district sport festivals.

ico contactrespect for the natural environment

Our concern relates to the limitation of the impact of the Stadion Energa Gdańsk on the natural environment. As one of the most technologically advanced facilities of this type in Poland and Europe, the stadium has systems for reducing the consumption of electric energy and water.

The Stadion Energa Gdańsk uses a modern computer system of lighting control - section and time regulation of ventilation, air-conditioning and heating system. It enables remote control of the system operation, adjusting to current needs and restriction of the electric power consumption in places and times of limited use in particular parts of the facility.

The stadium also has four storage tanks for rainwater of total capacity of 3150 m3. The water collected through a system of gutters is used, after filtering, in toilets as well as partially to water the pitch. The rainwater constitutes more than 1/3 of the water consumption in the Gdansk Letnica Stadium. The annual savings from the consumption of water from the water supply systems are more than four thousand cubic metres, which corresponds to the capacity of 25 thousand bathtubs.

The fact confirming our responsibility for the natural environment are also actions aimed at increasing the number of people choosing means of transport alternative to cars while travelling to the events taking place in the Stadion Energa Gdańsk. We propagate the use of public transport in any information published on the website and the Stadium Fan Page on Facebook as well as event publications. We also encourage arriving to the stadium events by bicycle, for which 366 parking spaces have been prepared.

In many cases, when arranging important large events in the Stadion Energa Gdańsk, we share in the travelling costs of the Municipal Speed Railway trains to and from the bus stop SKM Stadium Gdańsk Expo as well as the means of transport of the Municipal Department of Communication in Gdańsk. Thanks to sharing the costs, on the basis of agreements with operators of particular means of transport, the City Gdańsk and organisers of the events hosted by the stadium, the tickets for the events organised in the Stadion Energa Gdańsk, in many cases enable the participants to use public transport free of charge.
