The first PE class with a Champion at PGE ARENA
Children from Gdańsk primary schools no 12 and 70 attended an exceptional PE class in PGE ARENA
Children from Gdańsk primary schools no 12 and 70 attended an exceptional PE class today. Together with their Physical Education teachers and – first of all – with sports champions, they exercised on the PGE ARENA pitch.
The PE training sessions were given by rugby players: Tomasz Rokicki, the Polish national team member and Lechia Gdańsk player and Krzysztof Krzewicki – the National Development Officer at the Polish Rugby Union. Each meeting began with a nice chat with the champions and a stream of questions about a career in sports, but also about the importance of being fit and living a healthy life for child development.
The workout itself was very intense, taking place partly in a gym and partly on the pitch. The children enjoyed the game of tag rugby very much – a non-contact variation of rugby.
Each subsequent PE class at PGE ARENA is about a different sport and with different champions. Students from other primary schools will be able to attend very soon. Four next classes for schools chosen by lot during a meeting of headmasters will take place on December the 9th and 10th. The PE classes will be continued in spring next year.
Pilot PE classes with a Champion are an element of the Physical Activity Programme being prepared and consulted as an intersectoral partnership of the City of Gdańsk, PGE ARENA Gdańsk and Gdańsk Foundation.
