Polish Red Cross Rescue Workshops – safety first
Controlled accidents at PGE ARENA Gdańsk
Over 160 rescuers and mock victims from Tri-City, Wejherowo and Koszalin will participate in the first Polish Red Cross Special Rescue Groups drills organized under the patronage of the Pomeranian Voivode at PGE ARENA Gdańsk on Saturday, January the 24th 2015.
On Saturday morning, the Polish Red Cross Special Rescue Groups will be practicing medical support to a simulated sports event at the stadium. The regional workshop will be held for the first time. Its purpose is to provide an opportunity for the Red Cross voluntary teams to become familiar with the very special environment of an international football stadium, as well as to practice a number of technical rescue tasks typical for a setting like this. Furthermore, to co-ordinate their operations, the rescuers will be allowed to use the stadium's control systems and infrastructure.
The event has been planned to initiate a cycle of regular meetings for the Red Cross voluntary forces to gain stadium-specific experience and integrate their operations under the Polish Red Cross Rescue System. If the project succeeds, more voluntary rescue teams will be invited to participate in the next edition of the event.
